Planning
and booking your hunting trip
We recommend you to book your hunting holiday well in advance
to enable us to prepare for all your hunting and personal
requests. We offer exclusive hunting because we wish to be
completely at your service at all times. Therefore only one
hunter (with or without companion) or only one group of hunters
will be accommodated by us at any time.
Once you have decided to make Okosongoro
the destination of your hunting trip, please apply for accommodation.
We then check the dates, obtain the required hunting permits
and confirm the dates with you.
Following that, we send you the official hunting contract
and once you sign this contract a deposit of 50% of the relevant
rates becomes payable.
Your booking will only be confirmed after this payment has
been received.
Hunting Season
The official hunting season in Namibia is from the beginning
of February until the end of November. Due to occasional rains
earlier in the year and to avoid the summer heat, hunting
on Okosongoro starts on 1 April and ends on 31 October.
During the dry season (April to September / October) temperatures
are pleasant and humidity is low. From October onwards temperatures
may rise above 30º C.
Weapons and ammunition
We recommend you to bring your own rifle (two are allowed).
Suitable calibres are 30-06, .375, .338 or the like. It is
hardly ever necessary to shoot at long range. The normal range
is 80 to 150 Meter.
Bringing your own rifle to Namibia is no problem. Upon arrival
at Hosea Kutako International Airport, Windhoek, please declare
your rifle and submit your firearms certificate. The import
of hand guns is prohibited. A maximum of 80 rounds of ammunition
per rifle may be brought into the country.
Medal trophies
For many years Okosongoro Safari Ranch has produced a large
percentage of medal trophies. The fortunate hunters have all
the more reason to smile as medal trophies do not attract
any extra charges.
Okosongoro Trophy Information
Below follows a list of the largest trophies taken on Oksosongoro
up to now. To obtain excellent trophies the hunter should
be able to shoot well and the safari should be long enough
for him to hunt a variety of animals.
